Healwell™  is the service name of a non-profit organization called the
Integrative Health Initiative (IHI).  I co-founded IHI with my colleague
and fellow massage therapist Brenda Teal who is the owner and founder of
The Teal Center (www.tealcenter.com) in Arlington, VA.

At Healwell
, our mission is to provide education and research in massage
therapy and other integrative health therapies and to enable the provision
of  massage therapy and integrative health services to people living with
acute, chronic and terminal illnesses regardless of their ability to pay.

Integrative Health Initiative d/b/a Healwell
is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and is a registered 501
(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. The Healwell
Massage Therapy Hospital Stewardship Program is the flagship
initiative of the organization capitalizing on experience gained working directly in the hospital setting providing
massage therapy at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia since 2005.

“Stewardship” is defined by Merriam Webster  as “the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to
one’s care.”

As a  participant in this training program you will be a steward in many ways.   You will be a steward of care for the
patients with whom you work; a steward of the legitimacy and value of massage therapy in the hospital setting; a
steward a paradigm shift that says that compassionate, present, clinically skilled massage therapy is one of our most
powerful tools and deserves its place in healthcare; and a steward of the way hospitals integrate safe, properly-
adapted touch into the patient care equation.

Lucille is a graduate of the Potomac Massage Training Institute, a founding member of the Society for Oncology
Massage and has served as the Clinical Supervisor for Hospital/Oncology Massage at The Teal Center at Virginia

curriculum.

Lucille and I, the creators and instructors of the Healwell
stewardship, know that you know how to use your hands.
We want to share our experience providing massage therapy in a unique setting and we want to share it in a way that
will allow you to become a    seamless component of the larger healthcare picture, with clinical skill and a true spirit of
service.

You will learn the technical information, decision-making and communication skills  that will allow you to come from
a place of service and caring while delivering excellent, safe, clinical care.  We have designed this program to give you
the tools you need to provide massage at a hospital in your own community or to work with us at Healwell
as our
program grows.
